Introduction

Every Council listed on this website contains a statement in their Certified Agreements that "Council is committed to equal remuneration for work of equal or comparable value". What they are referring to is Equal Opportunity: within a Council, individuals should receive the same compensation for performing substantially similar jobs, regardless of their gender.

However they certainly do not believe in equal remuneration for equal work across Councils. Why should a Level 5.3 Project Manager in Gold Coast be paid $5,000-$10,000 less than the same position in Logan City or Ipswich? Is it fair that a Level 3.4 Managers Assistant in Sunshine Coast is paid $4,000-$5,000 less than in Noosa or Moreton Bay?

This website aims to provide independent factual comparative information to existing and prospective Council employees for use in enterprise bargaining or job searching. Which Councils pay fairly and which should you avoid?
